The objective of Video Poker is to receive the highest ranked five card poker hand possible. To begin playing Video Poker, you must deposit money into the machine.
Once you have deposited to the Video Poker machine and selected a coin denomination, the amount of coins you have available within the machine is shown in the CREDIT field at the bottom of the Video Poker machine. Note that the Balance field will not change when you change the coin denomination since they show your balance in dollars (not coins).
Once you have deposited to the Video Poker machine, you may then click on the “Bet One” button up to the amount of coins you would like to play to a maximum of 5 coins. When you are ready, click or press the “Deal/Draw” button to distribute the cards. You will be given 5 cards. The machine uses a 52 card deck (53 for Joker Poker) which is played fresh after each hand. Then you hold onto the card(s) that you need in order to achieve the highest ranked poker hand possible. You may hold cards by simply clicking on them or pressing the button below each card. Once you have selected a given amount of cards to hold, click or press the “Deal/Draw” button again. The cards that were not held will be replaced. If after this replacement you have any combination of cards that qualifies for a payout, your credit will be increased by the amount of coins shown in the Paid field.
There are three popular versions of Video Poker which are expalined below:
Jacks or Better Video Poker
Jacks or Better indicates that a pair pays off only if the cards in the pair are Jacks, Queens, Kings, or Aces. Lower pairs do not pay off.
Jokers Wild Video Poker
Jokers Wild is played with a regular 52 card Poker deck with a Joker added (53cards total). The Joker can be used as any card , in any Suit and in any Rank. This, of course, increases your chance of a winning combination in video poker. The Joker comes up in one of ten deals on average.
Deuces Wild Video Poker
In Deuces Wild all of the Two’s (Deuces) are Wild Cards. They can be used as any card, in any Suit and in any Rank. The Two of Diamonds could be used to complete a Straight Flush in Hearts. Having 4 wild cards greatly improves the odds of capturing a good hand which is why in Deuces Wild the lowest winning hand is a Three of a Kind.
